Last Updated 10/03/06 The Millis Garden Club Planting the Seeds of Community Our Mission The Millis Garden Club strives to enhance the natural beauty of our own surroundings and that of our community--through the horticulturaleducation of members --while cultivating new friendships in the process. Founded in 2004, The Millis Garden Club serves as a non-profit educational group, committed to expanding our knowledge and enjoyment of gardening as well as providing service to our community by enhancing its natural beauty through civic projects. Membership is open to all. Currently there are 63 members hailing from the towns of Upton, Mendon, Holliston, Franklin and Millis. The Millis Garden Club meets on a monthly basis (from September through June), and sponsors civic and community projects, fundraising events and educational programs throughout the year, as well as hosts local field trips.
Program topics focus on all areas of horticulture as well as ways to contribute to the beautification of the town. Our educational programs and meetings include highly regarded speakers who offer lectures, slide presentations, workshops and demonstrations. For a listing of our current schedule, please visit www.millisgardenclub.org.
Our Members actively participate in many worthy projects to help support our club's mandate. These are just a few examples of how we support our community:
· Sponsor and participate in fundraising events, such as the Annual Bulb & Plant Sale; Firemen’s Muster, and the Annual Greens Sale, which support civic beautification projects and MGC’s Annual Scholarship Program.
· MGC’s civic beautification projects enhance islands and common spaces, such as the Catch Our Drift Bulb Planting Program and the Children’s Garden at Oak Grove Farm Playground.
· Millis Beautification Day, our annual civic event co-sponsored with the Millis Lions Club, beautifies the town and unites the community.
· MGC’s Annual Civic Award Program recognizes Millis residents, clubs or businesses who have generously dedicated their expertise and time to worthy civic beautification projects in our community.
With the support of its members and our community, the Millis Garden Club looks forward to continued growth and success.
Thank you for your support.
